Dr. Robin Davis

Dr. Robin Davis was born & raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. From a very young age, she knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian. She attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington for undergraduate studies, received a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and worked at the Cincinnati Zoo during her summer vacations. After taking a year off to work in veterinary hospitals, she attended The Ohio State University for veterinary school. Wanting to return to a warmer, coastal climate, she started at Animal Medical Center in June of 1989. Outside of work, Dr. Davis enjoys the beach, exploring Seashore State Park, biking, walking and spending time with friends. At work, she enjoys seeing cats, dogs, rodents, and helps with wildlife rehabilitation.


Dr. Patrick Soles

Dr. Patrick Soles was born in Whiteville, North Carolina. He spent most of his time in Raleigh, North Carolina, even staying there to attend North Carolina State University. He received his Bachelors of Science in Zoology. He stayed at North Carolina State University and attended their vet school. After graduation in 1988, Dr. Soles moved to Virginia Beach and started work at Animal Medical Center. Outside of work, Dr. Soles spends his time restoring antique trucks, doing construction work, and playing beach volleyball. At the office, Dr. Soles takes a special interest in the ophthalmology cases seen at the office.


Dr. Ashley Powell

Dr. Ashley Powell was born in Norfolk, Virginia. When she was in the fourth grade, her mother allowed her to skip class to watch the local veterinarian pull two of her pony’s teeth. That was the day she decided that she wanted to become a veterinarian. After graduating from Norfolk Academy, she attended Virginia Tech and earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Poultry Sciences. She stayed in Blacksburg to attend Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Powell worked as an assistant at AMC during her summers off and was asked to rejoin the family as a veterinarian after graduation. While away from work, Dr. Powell enjoys riding horses, traveling, spending time with her dogs, and brewing beer with her husband. Dr. Powell’s special interests include surgery, wound management, and giant breed dogs.


Dr. Adrienne Koegel

Dr. Adrienne Koegel was born in Annapolis, MD and raised on Kent Island with her older siblings, Brooks and Stephanie. Dr. Koegel attended Virginia Tech for undergraduate studies, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal and Poultry Sciences. After a year of working as a veterinary assistant, she attended veterinary school at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and finished clinical year at NC State University. Once achieving her DVM, she practiced medicine for 3 years before joining the team at Animal Medical Center. Areas of interest include exotic medicine, ultrasound and ophthalmology. Outside of work Dr. Koegel enjoys riding her horse Libby, traveling, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.


Dr. Alyson Gross Yaary

Dr. Alyson Gross Yaary was born and raised in Norfolk, VA. She attended the University of Maryland for her undergraduate studies and received a degree in Animal Science. She travelled up to Philadelphia for veterinary school where she attended the University of Pennsylvania. Dr Yaary started her career in Washington DC working as an emergency veterinarian prior to moving home and joining the team at Animal Medical Center. Areas of interest include trauma, behavior, and ultrasound. When not at work, Dr Yaary enjoys being outdoors, staying active, and spending time with family and friends.


 

Dr. Karen Brown

Dr. Karen Brown was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia. She attended Virginia Tech for undergrad and earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal and Poultry Sciences before continuing on to earn a Master of Science in Dairy Science. After obtaining her Master’s degree, she traveled to St, Kitts to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical year back in Blacksburg at Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. After veterinary school, she worked at clinics in North Carolina, Radford, and Suffolk before joining the team at Animal Medical Center. Her clinical interests include preventive medicine, soft tissue surgery, and canine rehabilitation. Outside of work, she enjoys going to Blacksburg for Hokie football games, going to the beach, enjoying live music, line dancing, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She is a proud mom to two fur kids: a Labrador Retriever named Layne, and Frankie the cat.
